SAIOP Therapist

SAIOP Therapist (Licensed Clinician)

Location: Rocky Point, NC | Coastal Horizons Center, Inc.
Full-Time | Exempt

We are seeking a compassionate, licensed SAIOP Therapist to provide clinical assessment, individual counseling, group therapy, and case management services for adults experiencing substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders.

In this role, you'll help individuals build the skills needed to achieve lasting recovery while facilitating our Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP). If you're passionate about empowering others through treatment and recovery, we'd love to have you on our team.

What You'll Do

Clinical Assessment & Treatment

  • Complete comprehensive psychosocial, substance use, and diagnostic assessments.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and clinical best practices.
  • Provide individual counseling for adults with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Utilize evidence-based approaches including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family systems, and supportive counseling.

SAIOP Group Facilitation

  • Facilitate Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) groups.
  • Lead discussions focused on relapse prevention, emotion regulation, recovery support, family dynamics, life skills, and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and therapeutic group environment.

Case Management & Care Coordination

  • Coordinate care with physicians, community providers, referral sources, and support systems.
  • Utilize ASAM Criteria to assess client needs and recommend the appropriate level of care.
  • Connect clients with community resources that support long-term recovery and stability.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete timely clinical documentation, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Maintain compliance with agency standards, licensing requirements, and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement activities.

What You'll Bring

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Substance Use Treatment, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current North Carolina licensure as one of the following:
    • LCAS (required)
    • LCSW
    • LCSW-A
    • LCMHC
    • LCMHC-A
    • LPA
  • Experience providing substance use treatment and behavioral health counseling.
  • Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
  • Commitment to ethical, person-centered, and trauma-informed care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience facilitating SAIOP or other intensive outpatient treatment programs.
  • Knowledge and application of ASAM Criteria.
  • Experience treating clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience working with community partners and multidisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
