JOB TITLE: TASC Peer Support Specialist (Community)

LOCATION: CRAVEN COUNTY (New Bern, NC)

HOURS: 40 hours/week, Full-Time, M-F, Non-Exempt

Coastal Horizons Center is seeking a dedicated and qualified Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to support justice-involved individuals by providing peer support services within the TASC (Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities) program. The ideal candidate will collaborate with community partners, justice systems, TASC, and service providers to help individuals access treatment and recovery services. We have this specific opportunity located in:??

Craven, Jones, and Pamlico Counties

Our regional offices in Cumberland and Craven Counties, NC support this position. The primary office for this position is located in Craven County.

The PSS promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, attendance at psychiatric appointments, involvement with wellness services and recovery support, and connection with primary care; fulfills all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation, and documents services provided; and assists clients in various ways – such as transportation and sharing personal recovery stories, among others. The PSS collaborates directly with Craven, Jones, and Pamlico County Care Managers to ensure continuity of care and employs a team approach in delivering services with TASC, probation, treatment providers, and support services.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Diploma/Equivalent or higher, combined with knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts. Lived experiences with mental health, substance use disorders, and/or justice-involvement, and at least three years of recovery. Must have completed the Peer Support Specialist Certification Program.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems and remote collaboration tools (i.e., Teams, Zoom, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including legal systems, healthcare providers, and social services.
