JOB TITLE: Intake Therapist
LOCATION: Brunswick County Adult Treatment
SCHEDULE: Full Time (4 Days/Week)
POSITION OVERVIEW
Coastal Horizons Center is seeking a qualified professional to join our Brunswick County Adult Treatment team. This position is a hybrid clinical role designed to provide a balance of initial patient engagement and ongoing care.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a structured split of duties:
- 20 Hours per week: Outpatient Counseling (Individual/Group)
- 20 Hours per week: Patient Intakes & Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCAs)
WORK SCHEDULE
This position operates on a 4-day work week with required evening hours to better serve our client population.
- Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
- Hours: 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Intake, Assessment & Coordination (20 Hours/Week)
- Perform Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCAs), screenings, and initial diagnostic evaluations for new admissions.
- Determine the appropriate level of care and medical necessity for incoming clients.
- Manage open access/walk-in services and triage protocols to ensure appropriate next steps.
- Coordinate new referrals into services and manage the schedule of intakes.
- Provide coordination of discharge planning for new and active clients to ensure a smooth transition of care.
- Maintain working relationships with community partners to better coordinate new referrals and discharges.
Outpatient Counseling & Clinical Services (20 Hours/Week)
- Provide direct clinical services including individual, family, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based practices.
- Develop Person-Centered Plans (PCPs), crisis plans, and treatment updates.
- Manage a complex caseload, including clients with co-occurring disorders and those receiving medication-assisted treatment (methadone).
- Provide crisis intervention, case management, and supportive counseling.
- Formulate treatment goals and record concise, timely documentation in compliance with laws, regulations, and program policies.
- Engage with the criminal justice system, employers, and families regarding treatment plans and behavior management as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensure:
- Required: Master’s degree in a human services field (Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.) from an accredited university.
- Required: Two (2) years of progressive experience in behavioral health assessment and treatment.
- Required: Full or Associate licensure as a Psychological Associate, Professional Counselor (LCMHC), or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- Preferred: Dual licensure as a Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic classifications, person-centered planning, and substance use/mental health assessment techniques.
- Ability to perform semi-structured diagnostic clinical interviews and formulate treatment goals.
- Considerable knowledge of pharmacology, addiction disease processes, and the socioeconomic impact of substance use.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records (EHR).
- Ability to work the required evening schedule (until 7:00 PM).
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical: Must be able to physically perform basic life operational functions (climbing, stooping, reaching, lifting, talking, hearing). Must be able to perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Must possess visual acuity for extensive reading and work accuracy.
- Environmental: Subject to inside environmental conditions. May be exposed to odors, poor ventilation, or work in close quarters. Employee may be exposed to human body fluids and is subject to OSHA requirements on bloodborne pathogens.
