Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. has an opportunity for a Child and Adolescent Therapist in Burgaw, NC. Therapist provides a full range of substance use and mental health disorder therapeutic services for children, adolescents and their families - with a minimum of supervision. Primary duties include counseling children, adolescents and their families – with much of this taking place at various school sites. Performs regular therapist functions during school vacations and summer months. Therapist will also:

• Evaluates the client's situation and their ability to deal with their problem; conducts an in-depth clinical interview (comprehensive clinical assessment) to determine psycho-social and drug history, formulates a psycho-social assessment and person-centered plan; provides ongoing monitoring, assessment, and update of the Person-Centered and Crisis Plans.
• Provides in-depth therapy which can range from brief crisis intervention to treatment of complex co-occurring mental health and personality disorders.
• Provides individual, group and family counseling and activities adapted or specifically designed for persons with physical disabilities or persons with co-occurring disorders or mental illness and substance abuse/dependence or cognitive disabilities/developmental disability and substance abuse/dependence.
• The counseling is best characterized as individual, group and family, utilizing current practice methods for substance use disorder and/or mental health disorder treatment, and is individualized.

Qualifications/Skills:

Education: Graduation from an accredited program with a Master’s degree in a human services or related field and two years of progressive substance abuse and/or mental health counseling experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Possession of North Carolina licensure as one of the following: Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Psychological Associate, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
